Teachers
At "Baltų Šalelė", each teacher cares for all the children, not for individual groups. The little ones know all the adults around them well and feel safe, even if one of the team members is sick or on holiday. Each group of children has its own lead mentor who organises and runs the daily activities together with the other teachers.

Alina Sinicė
The founder of the kindergarten
I'm a mother of six children, with a wonderful family. It is from my family that I draw patience, wisdom and sincerity, which helps me to grow. I am inspired by work with children and their families, listening, understanding and always thinking positively. I want the new generation to grow up with strong values and a loving heart.

Children's groups
In our kindergartens, children of all ages spend a large part of the day together. In this way, the little ones learn from the older ones, who take care of the little ones. Children grow up in a big family.

Children love heroes, so we thought why not our well-known mythological creatures. The themes of the project months guide us towards a broader knowledge of the environment. Together with the children, we make connections and through our characters we talk about history, the elements and transformations of nature, we discuss various phenomena and try to reveal them in art, we learn about different jobs and professions of people, we go deeper into the emotions we experience and learn how to accept and express them.
To make the educational process more fun and engaging for children, we build our relationship with the characters using a story that engages them in learning not only about the world around them, but also how it came to be.

Rythm of the month
I week
Getting to know the monthly project theme – mythological being and its perception in earlier times (mythological being, its environment, its origin; links with the natural phenomenon that it embodied as a being; history of the world; ancient customs and traditions).
II week
Contemporary environment and traditions (perception of contemporary beings, customs and traditions that have survived or changed, perception of contemporary natural phenomena and environment).
III week
Human-environment links (professions related to the topic; emotions; relationships between people, human and environment).
IV week
Implementation of the project activities (reinforcement of knowledge, summarising, i.e. daily reminder to the children of what we have done in the last three weeks) and community mobilisation (various forms of introducing parents to the monthly project theme – evening party, children's folders, Facebook description with photos, etc.).

Educational methodology
Educational methodology is a foundation made up of cornerstones:
-
built environment;
-
amazing community brought together;
-
unique educational programme.
Teachers see children's education as an everyday creation of life, and therefore introduce children to history and culture in a modern and innovative way, and create the best conditions for them to nurture their own native culture.
Find out how children's competences are developed in the context of their native culture:
Learning about nature, the environment and the world
We observe the nature around us, and learn about the plants that grow locally. We learn songs, rhymes, games about the environment and animals, imitate the sounds of birds and animals.
We learn about family, relatives, community and national traditions
Learn about the traditions of our country. We celebrate calendar festivals and learning about customs is of particular importance – it allows children to feel more deeply the rhythm of nature and the passage of time.
Developing social skills
Learning common manners and traditional etiquette using various examples from folklore and customs trains children to evaluate their own and others' behaviour, teaches them elementary norms of communication, and helps them to develop emotions and a culture of behaviour.
Communication, mother tongue
Folk tales, proverbs, fables, stories, calculations, games, proverbs, riddles, tongue twisters, songs and other folklore, learning about the dialects of different regions and cherishing one's own dialect develops linguistic development and expands child's vocabulary.
Rhythmicity, music
Music of the earliest origins matches the musical intelligence of young children, expanding their perception and expressive potential.
Creativity, art and technology
Traditional crafts, using natural materials, develop children's motor skills, sensitivity and creativity.
Fitness, physical education
Not only agility, but also other folk sports games, traditional dances, circles, counting and chanting have been successfully used for exercise.
The result of three years of cooperation and sharing of best practices with Finnish and Latvian educators – established curriculum guidelines!

Home education
As the world continues to change, so do our habits – working from home, or even from another part of the world. Children's education is no exception, with more and more families opting for distance education or home education.
We invite you to get in touch and start a wonderful friendship in the Baltų šalelė community by educating children in families!
It costs you nothing to sign a cooperation agreement with an educational establishment, and you will receive:
- help with planning your child's education within the family;
- teacher consultations;
- opportunities to participate in community life remotely or by joining in joint celebrations and excursions.
We are waiting for you to join us!
